HCM City sees highest CPI in nine months

HCM City’s consumer price index (CPI) in February increased by 1.32 percent over January – a record high in nine months but lower than last year’s February figure, according to HCM City’s General Statistics Office.

* Hanoi CPI increases for fourth consecutive month

This is the first time it has exceeded the 1 percent mark over the past seven months.

With Hanoi’s CPI growth at 1.45 percent, the country’s CPI in February is likely to rise around 1.4 percent.

While the post and telecommunications group saw a decrease of 0.56 percent, the remaining ten groups of commodities went up in price. Two groups which achieved high growth rates included foodstuffs (up 2.45 percent), restaurants and services (up 1.97 percent), accommodation and fuels (up 2.96 percent).

Slight increases were reported in medicine and medical equipment (0.02 percent), education (0.09 percent), sports and entertainment (0.07 percent).
