Vietnam’s company to plant rubber trees in Laos

The Dau Tieng Rubber Corporation of Vietnam will lease 4,739 ha of land for 40 years in Champasak and Salavan provinces of Laos to grow rubber trees.

A contract to this effect was signed in Vientiane on Dec. 30 by Lao Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Ahom Toulanom and Director of Dau Tieng Rubber Company Le Chi Hoang.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Deputy Minister Ahom Toulanom spoke highly of Vietnamese businesses’ investment projects in Laos, including those to plant industrial crops, which have created a large number of jobs for local people.

He added that Vietnamese businesses have taken an active part in protecting the environment, contributing to social welfare and speeding up poverty reduction in Lao provinces where their projects are underway.

For his party, Hoang affirmed the resolve to effectively carry out the project and promised to strictly abide the Laos’s law and give priority to employing and transfer techniques to local residents./.
