Gold prices edge up to VND44 million/tael

Domestic gold prices continued to rise on January 4, climbing to VND43.9 million/tael.

The price of SJC gold at Saigon Jewelry Company was listed at VND43.6-43.9 million/tael, nearly VND1 million/tael more than January 3 transactions.

Phuong Hoang PNJ at DongA Bank was traded at VND43.6-43.7 million/tael, while SBJ gold was sold for VND43.9 million/tael.

Thang Long Dragon gold at Bao Tin Minh Chau Company continued to hold the lowest price, hovering around VND42.25-42.6 million/tael. 

This is the second consecutive day domestic gold prices have edged up after cooling off to around VND41 million on New Year’s Day.

In the New York market, the world gold price stood at US$1,599.20 per ounce, up 2.1 percent against the previous session.

On the same day, the inter-bank exchange rate announced by the State Bank of Vietnam remains at VND20,828 per US dollar.

At Vietcombank, the exchange rate was listed at VND21,030-21,036 per US dollar and at Asia Commercial Bank (ACB), it was transacted at VND21,000-21,036 per US dollar.
