Bitexco badgers opposition
Bitexco Group will nail down construction of mega property projects in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City this year.
The private company is due to break ground for construction of its $400 million Ben Thanh Tower project in Ho Chi Minh City this quarter and open its doors in 2015.
The 55-storey West Tower contains office floors in the lower half and a hotel in the upper half. The 48-storey East Tower features the residential apartments, serviced by the hotel through the podium.
The plan includes two towers connected by a podium, with three basements to park vehicles, a commercial centre with two basements and seven floors.
The project’s architectural design has the image of two dragons keeping two precious stones in their mouths. Ben Thanh Tower is located in the front of the historical Ben Thanh Market in District 1.
In Hanoi, Bitexco will also launch the $1.9 billion Hoang Mai new urban area this year. Located on Hanoi’s southern belt road No.3, the township will cover 90 hectares and be an ecological park city.
Also in the capital city, the group is expected to finish construction on a 450-room hotel, which is located within the National Convention Centre and will be branded as JW Marriott.
Bitexco general director Vu Quang Bao said the group was preparing for the site clearance and construction of the Nguyen Cu Trinh Centre in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 1, which will feature a new mixed-use development comprising residences, retail, offices and hotels and a new Saigon Hospital.
Bitexco has developed a number of outstanding properties, including Ho Chi Minh City’s tallest building - Bitexco Financial Tower - which was recognized by CNNGo as one of the most iconic skycrapers in the world.
