Lao-Viet exhibition spurs trade, investment
The Lao-Viet Trade Fair Exhibition officially opened at Lao-ITECC in Vientiane yesterday, with more than 290 exhibitors from the agriculture, handicraft and manufacturing industries.
Representatives of the Lao and Vietnamese ministries of Industry and Commerce cut a ribbon to open the exhibition at Lao-ITECC.
The exhibition will run from December 1-5 with the aim of encouraging more business cooperation and investment between investors and companies in Vietnam and Laos.
The opening ceremony was attended by Lao and Vietnamese businesspeople, representatives from the Vietnamese Embassy to Laos, and representatives of the ministries of Industry and Commerce of Laos and Vietnam.
The exhibition coincides with Lao National Day and is designed to signal the increasing cooperation between the two countries, especially in trade, investment and tourism, according to Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce Ms Khemmani Pholsena in her speech at the opening ceremony.
She said the exhibition was an annual event after the two governments signed an agreement to bolster mutual trade.
Ms Khemmani said this was a great chance for business leaders from the two countries to partner in further investment as well as signing contracts for trade and business exchange.
She believed this would increase investment value and trade between the two countries and help them to achieve their goals. She said the exhibition would play an even greater role in promoting investment in future years, and hoped it would be expanded to other provinces to encourage economic growth.
This year, there are 150 booths representing 93 Vietnamese companies and 151 booths representing 142 Lao companies.
