Interbank exchange rate climbs VND15 per dollar 

The State Bank of Vietnam unexpectedly raised the interbank exchange rate by VND15 per dollar to VND20,828 on December 24.

Thus, the ceiling price was VND21,036 at commercial banks. This is the highest level since February 11. After the central bank governor announced on September 7 that the depreciation would not be more than 1 percent,   the interbank exchange rate has gained 0.97 percent. Therefore, the rate is expected to rise VND6 per dollar, or 0.03 percent, in the last week of this year.

At commercial banks, the dollar exchange rate also added VND15 per dollar. Asia Commercial Bank bought dollars at VND21,015 and sold at VND21,036. Vietcombank quoted the rate at VND21,015 for buying and VND21,021 for selling.

On the black market, one dollar was bought at VND21,220, and sold at VND21,250.
