VN-Index hovers above 400 points
Shares continued to slump during today's session following tumbling global markets. On the HCM Stock Exchange, the VN-Index fell over 1 per cent compared to yesterday's session to close at 401.03 points. Losers were nearly five times higher than gainers.
The value of trades increased by 18.9 per cent over yesterday's level, totalling VND512 billion (US$24 million) on a volume of 25.3 million shares.
Among the 15 largest shares led by capitalisation, only Military Bank (MBB) and Sacombank (STB) were able to make gains, adding 1.7 and 0.7 per cent respectively. Meanwhile, steel maker Hoa Phat (HPG) hit its floor price and the rest lost value or closed unchanged.
With nearly 1.3 million shares changing hands, Saigon Securities Inc (SSI) was the most active stock in HCM City.
On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index fell steeper by 1.2 per cent to conclude at 63.82 points, with the majority of listed codes diving.
Market value inched up slightly to VND259 billion ($12.2 million) while the volume of trades climbed 14.5 per cent to 28.4 million.
Kim Long Securities Company (KLS) was the most active stock nationwide with more than 2.8 million shares exchanged, followed by VNDirect Securities (VND) with 2.2 million.
