Meeting to review progress of negotiations for WTO
The Department of Foreign Trade Policy of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce held a conference last Tuesday in Vientiane, to disseminate the results of the study on the opening of the delivery area that plays a key role in the negotiations for the accession of Laos to the WTO (World Trade Organization).
The conference was held under the chairmanship of Bounsom Phommavihane, Head of Department of foreign trade policy in the presence of many representatives from local businesses and various departments and sectors.
The challenge is to create understanding for stakeholders on the opportunity and the challenge of setting up the delivery area related to the preparation of Laos for its accession to the WTO.
In addition, this conference allowed participants and targeted groups to take note of the information on the revision and amendment of legislation in the sector of delivery so that it complies with the WTO.
This meeting provided stakeholders with data in the WTO on the promotion and protection of the area mentioned above, so that it is ready to compete on the international stage.
After the meeting, participants will use the acquired data and advice on policy research project to develop the legislative structure, and determine the direction of negotiations for the accession of Laos to the WTO.
