Bank staff figure out Vietnamese auditing system
Auditors at the Bank of the Lao PDR have learnt a Vietnamese model for internal auditing work amid rising demand for transparent operations at the central bank.
A four-day seminar on the auditing model ended in Vientiane on Friday, attended by about 40 officials from the central bank and its branches.
Deputy Director General of the State Bank of Vietnam's Auditing Department Mr Le Quoc Nghi led the Vietnamese delegation to deliver the seminar and share the experiences of how the Vietnamese bank carries out auditing work, in particular risk-based auditing and use of IT in auditing.
Deputy Director General of the Bank of the Lao PDR's Auditing Department Mr Norkeo Mounivong led the Lao delegation attending the seminar.
Lao central bank auditors also learnt about the working systems of the Vietnamese bank, including a number of legal documents used to operate the bank, which auditors need to understand before they can perform their work.
The seminar was part of a human resources development cooperation programme between the Bank of the Lao PDR and State Bank of Vietnam.
