CPI in HCMC, Hanoi rises marginally in September
The consumer price index in Ho Chi Minh City rose by 0.88 percent and in Hanoi by 0.2 percent during the month of September, according to statistics offices.
From early this year the Ho Chi Minh City consumer price index (CPI) showed a rise of 14.49 percent, whereas it was 18.87 percent over the same period last year, the office added.
The biggest price hike in the month was seen in the education sector which went up 4.54 percent at the beginning of the new academic year.
This was followed by food commodities and restaurant services with 0.92 percent.
Meanwhile, Hanoi’s CPI gained by 0.2 percent in September, from last month, the lowest monthly increase since the beginning of the year.
From 11 categories, the biggest price hike was seen in the education sector with 0.98 percent, followed closely by culture, entertainment and tourism with 0.93 percent. Garments, footwear and headwear went up 0.91 percent.
Food commodities and restaurant services decreased 0.02 percent, while food prices also dropped 0.34 percent, transport 0.56 percent and housing, electricity, water, fuel and building materials dropped 0.01 percent.
