Sluggish trades weigh on two bourses
On the HCM Stock Exchange, the VN-Index achieved mixed results to finally close down 0.14 per cent on 383.92 points. More than half of all the listed codes managed gains.
Market value dropped 9.5 per cent to VND360.1 billion (US$17.5 million), while market volume remained essentially unchanged, with 20.1 million shares exchanged.
Of the 10 largest capitalised shares, Vietinbank (CTG), Phu My Fertilisers (DPM), Eximbank (EIB) and PetroVietnam Finance (PVF) gained between 0.3-2 per cent.
However, others lost value with Sacombank (STB) retreating the most, closing the session down 2.3 per cent.
Saigon Securities Inc (SSI) was the most active code although only 70,700 of its shares were exchanged.
On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index edged up 0.3 per cent to finish on 66.02 points.
Gainers outnumbered losers by 164-82.
Trading volume, however, slid 11.6 per cent to just VND179.5 billion ($8.7 million) on a volume of 19.1 million shares.
Saigon – Ha Noi Bank (SHB) surprised the market by claiming the highest trading volume nationwide with 2.77 million shares exchanged.
