Gold prices drop by VND2 million/tael
Due to a sharp fall in global gold prices to US$1,754 per ounce, the domestic price of gold on August 25 dropped by VND1.7 million/tael compared to the previous day.
In Ho Chi Minh City, SJC gold was traded at VND45.2-45.6 million/tael but in Hanoi the price was VND20,000/tael higher.
The same day, SBJ gold was transacted at VND45.36-45.54 million/tael.
In the world market, gold prices went down by US$150, from the peak of US$1,911.46 to US$1,754 per ounce. That was tribute to optimistic signs of US economic recovery and the selling of 27 tonnes of gold by SPDR Gold Trust.
