Auditors’ agreement
Demand for accountants will continue to soar in Cambodia, even though there is a lack of qualified experts.
The global financial crisis had made the role more important, placing it at the forefront of Cambodia’s business agenda, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants director of emerging markets Luca Real-Martin said yesterday.
“The ACCA will provide a strong ground for more effective professional development and support the advancement of local accountancy profession, particularly in the public sector,” she said.
The ACCA yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding with Cambodia’s National Audit Authority (NAA) that aims to improve the Kingdom’s accounting profession.
Auditor-General Uth Chhorn welcomed the memorandum, saying that although the profession had benefited from recent advancements, further action was required.
“We need to build on the knowledge that auditors have gained,” he said at the signing ceremony yesterday.
The improvements were expected to be fully implemented within the next five years, NAA deputy secretary- general Long Atichbora told The Post.
