Viet Nam, Indonesia trade value rises in H1
Bilateral trade turnover between Viet Nam and Indonesia in the first half of this year jumped by 37.8 per cent over the same period last year to nearly US$1.2 billion, according to the Vietnamese Trade Office in Indonesia.
Meanwhile, Viet Nam's trade deficit with Indonesia year-on-year declined from $67.15 million to $50.33 million in Q1, the office said.
The decline was attributed to the Indonesian government's suspension of rice imports from Viet Nam because of increased production in the country.
Viet Nam's export turnover to Indonesia in the first six months of this year doubled to $948.5 million.
A number of Vietnamese exports such as vegetables, fruit, rubber, steel and chemicals grew in H1. Meanwhile, spare parts, coal and coffee witnessed a downturn.
Imports from Indonesia were worth $998.8 million, up 27.52 per cent in comparison with the same period last year.
Viet Nam's main imports were cars, metals, medicine and cotton.
The office estimated two-way trade between the two countries would reach $3.5 billion in 2011.
