Indices down on sluggish trading
The VN-Index retreated 1 per cent this morning after a two-day rising streak, closing today's session on 414.74 points.
Market value continued to decline by 18 per cent over yesterday, reaching VN377.7 billion (US$18.3 million), over 19.3 million shares changing hands.
Large caps tumbled, dragging the index down. Among the 10 largest shares led by capitalisation, only three codes, including property developer Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAG), Sacombank (STB) and dairy producer Vinamilk (VNM), managed a slight rise.
While Masan Group (MSN) lost 3 per cent, insurer Bao Viet Holdings (BVH), PetroVietnam Finance (PVF), Phu My Fertiliser (DPM), steelmaker Hoa Phat Group (HPG), software producer FPT (FPT) and real estate developer Vincom (VIC) all lost more than 1 per cent,
Decliners outnumbered gainers by 134-68 overall.
Sacombank (STB), with 1.72 million of its shares exchanged, had the most active stock in HCM City, closing on an increase of 0.7 per cent at VND13,600 ($0.66) a share.
On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index lost another 0.47 per cent today to close the session on 71.54 points.
Today's trade value were modest, totalling only VND168.7 billion ($8.2 million) with 16 million shares changing hands.
Losers outnumbered gainers by 130-91, Kim Long Securities (KLS) again presiding over the most active stock with nearly 1.74 million of its shares exchanged, closing on a decline of 0.9 per cent at VND10,600 ($0.52).
