Lao Mobile eyes larger profit with expanded product line

The Lao Mobile Group believes its new electronics product line will help to boost revenues and provide a foundation for future growth.

The group hosted a ceremony on Wednesday in Dongpalane Tha village, Sisattanak district, Vientiane, to open its new store, which now sells televisions, refrigerators, washing machines and security cameras in addition to mobile phones.

“The extended product range will encourage more people to buy our goods and boost our profit margin,” said Lao Mobile Group Chief Executive Officer Mr Montry Louangpaserth.

“Our new store is in a commercial area in central Vientiane. It is larger than our previous facility at Sihom, Chanthabouly district and is better suited to serving customers.”

To celebrate the opening of the new premises, Lao Mobile is offering free gifts to people who buy goods there from May 15-June 10. Purchasers who are also customers of Banque pour le Commerce Exterieur Lao (BCEL) will get a discount of 5-15 percent.

The company also has branches in Savannakhet and Champassak provinces and is eyeing more openings in other provinces.

Lao Mobile says what distinguishes it from other companies is the warranty it offers on its goods. While most firms offer a warranty of only one year, Lao Mobile offers a 13 month warranty, said Mr Montry.

If a product develops a fault within one month after purchase, it can be exchanged for a new item.

He is confident sales will rise each year as the company focuses more on product promotion and customer service.

Wednesday's opening ceremony featured traditional dancing and cultural performances.

The Lao Mobile Group is divided into three sections - Lao Mobile Communications, Lao Mobile Electronics and Lao Mobile Security.

The Lao Mobile Group is a business distributor and dealer for all brands of mobile phones, including Samsung, LG, Nokia, Sony Ericsson, NEX Mobile, jFone, I-mobile, Philips, HTC, Blackberry and iPhone.
