Koreans learn about investment in Laos
South Korean businessmen met in Vientiane yesterday to learn about the investment and tax policies of Laos.
About 70 Koreans learnt more about the new investment law and the tax incentives offered by the Lao government for investments in certain areas.
Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Laos Mr Lee Gun-tae spoke at the Seminar on Lao Investment and Tax Policies, saying that Korean investment in Laos has grown considerably in recent years, jumping from the 6th largest in 2009 to the 4th largest in 2010, owing to the potential of Laos.
He explained the interest of the South Korean government, along with that of the Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry, to assist in the business activities of Korean companies operating in Laos.
Laos is a popular investment destination for large and small businesses so the seminar provided a good opportunity for South Koreans to learn more about the investment and tax policies of Laos, Mr Gun-tae explained.
During the seminar, Deputy Director General of the Investment Promotion Department from the Ministry of Planning and Investment, Mr Manothong Vongsay, explained about the different investment procedures and laws, as well as overall market trends and business opportunities in Laos.
A representative from the Ministry of Finance, Mr Lamngeun Tanlamany, also gave a presentation on the tax policy of the Lao government.
