Blue chips pull market down
Indices on both bourses closed in the red this morning. In HCM City, the VN-Index ended the day on a 0.2 per cent low of 482.14 points. Losers were still higher than gainers by a two-fold.
Trading volume increased slightly during yesterday's session, with 22 million shares changing hands. The value of trades eased to VND530 billion ($25 million), VND6 billion (US286,000) lower than yesterday.
Of the ten largest capital share traders, only Eximbank (EIB) saw a greenback of 0.7 per cent.
Three codes, including insurer Bao Viet Holdings (BVH), Vietinbank (CTG) and estate developer Hoang Anh Gia Lai Group (HAG), tumbled between 0.6-0.7 per cent. Six other codes levelled off.
The most active code was Sacombank (STB), trading 1.2 million shares.
On the Ha Noi Stock exchange, the HNX-Index dropped by 0.5 per cent to close at 82.33 points.
Decliners outnumbered advancers by 176-82.
Market value came to VND255 billion ($12 million), an increase of 5 per cent compared to yesterday. Trading volume jumped 8 per cent to around 20 million shares.
Beverages producer Thai Hoa Group (THV) saw the highest trades of 2.4 million shares.
