Vietnam, China tie knot in banking

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on March 2 received the Chairman of China’s Bank of Communications (BOCOM) Hu Huai Bang, who is on a working visit to Vietnam.

According to PM Dung, the cooperation in economic, trade and investment between Vietnam and China is developing fruitfully with two-way trade reaching 25 billion USD.

The establishment of a BOCOM branch in Ho Chi Minh City, which opened on Feb. 28, would practically contribute to boosting the two countries’economic, trade and investment cooperation, he stressed.

The PM also expressed his belief that BOCOM would preserve and progress the fine relations with the State Bank of Vietnam, as well as commercial banks in the country, to beef up the development of Vietnam’s financial and monetary markets for mutual benefits.

For his part, Chairman Hu Huai Bang called on the Vietnamese government to always create favourable conditions for Chinese businesses in general and BOCOM in particular.
