Sharp money injection bolsters stocks
A sharp injection of money helped stocks rally on both markets this morning. In the HCM City Stock Exchange, the VN-Index gained 2.55 per cent to close the session at 482.49 points.
Value of the day's trades rose sharply to VND976.9 billion (US$45.4 million) with a total volume of 46.1 million shares.
Half of the 233 gainers on the southern bourse saw prices hit their ceiling, including Everpia Viet Nam Company (EVE), up 4.9 per cent, insurer Bao Viet Holdings (BVH) up 4.8 per cent, Tu Liem Urban Development Company (NTL) up 4.5 per cent, resort developer Vinpearlland (VPL) up 4.4 per cent and PetroVietnam Drillings (PVD) up 3.8 per cent.
The securities stocks of Saigon Securities Inc (SSI) or HCM City Securities (HCM) also hit the ceiling prices.
Banking stocks returned positive after a series of changes in the monetary system were announced two days ago, gaining 1.3 per cent on average.
On the Ha Noi market, the HNX-Index climbed 4.36 per cent to finish the session at 92.31 points.
However, volume remained low at 32.1 million shares, totalling a value of VND464.4 billion ($21.6 million).
Out of 266 gainers on the northern market, 90 hit their ceiling prices, including Bao Viet Securities (BVS) up 5.6 per cent, Kim Long Securities (KLS) up 5.4 per cent, APEC Securities (APS) up 5.3 per cent and VNDirect Securities (VND) up 5.2 per cent.
