Shares continue to decline on both exchanges
Shares continued to retreat Thusday morning after a steep decline on both the HCM City and Ha Noi stock exchanges on Mar. 2. In HCM City, the VN-Index lost another 1.2 per cent over yesterday to finish at 452.34 points.
Both trading volume and value fell over 32 per cent with just over 30.7 million shares worth nearly VND659.6 billion (US$31.4 million) changing hands.
Losers still largely outnumbered gainers by 184-41, with most blue chips posting losses.
PetroVietnam Finance (PVF) and Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAG) closed down over 4 per cent while Bao Viet Holdings (BVH) and Phu My Fertiliser (DPM) lost 3.2 per cent and Masan Group (MSN) dropped by 1.2 per cent.
Only a few blue chips rose, including Vincom Company (VIC) by 3.4 per cent; Sacombank (STB) and Eximbank (EIB), up 0.7 per cent.
Sai Gon Securities Inc (SSI) was once again the most active share with 3.1 million exchanged. It dropped another 4.3 per cent to close at VND22,000 ($1.05) per share.
In Ha Noi, the HNX-Index dropped another 1.15 per cent to close at 90.12.
Market volume and value also dropped by 40 per cent with just over 32.5 million shares exchanged worth VND461.5 billion ($22 million).
Decliners outnumbered advancers by 248-56.
Kim Long Securities' (KLS) shares, affected by its business model change decision on Mar. 2, saw 2 million shares exchanged, making it the most active stock, however it plunged to its floor price of VND11,400 ($0.54).
