January aquatic product shipments up 2.3 pct

Vietnam's exports of aquatic products reached US$320 million in January, a rise of 2.3 percent over the last year, according to the Vietnam's General Department of Fisheries.

The country’s major markets for aquatic products include the US, Japan, South Korea, China, Germany and Spain.

Vietnam saw a big growth in aquatic products exports in 2010, pocketing $4.94 billion from shipping oversea aquatic products, up 17.62 percent year-on-year.

Vietnam is hopeful of earning a record high of $5 billion from the export of aquatic products this year as world demand keep growing and supplies in several countries are forecast to decline.
