World gold prices set new record

The global price of gold reached a new peak of US$1,429.4 per ounce after the Federal Reserve (FED) announced it would create more money, after worries over the debt crisis in Europe.

Facing new developments on the world’s gold market, domestic gold prices did not see many changes on December 7. SJC gold hovered around VND36.65-36.75 million/tael, increasing by VND150,000/tael compared to the previous day.

Meanwhile, Thang Long Dragon gold from the Bao Tin Minh Chau Company was transacted at VND36.65-36.75 million/tael. This is the highest price for domestic gold prices in over a month.

As a result, the price of the US dollar in the free market fell to below VND21.300 a dollar. At 9am on December 7, it hovered around VND21.200-21.270 per dollar, down by VND80-100 against previous transactions.
