Mobile market shake-up move

Smart Mobile has announced they will join forces with Star-Cell in the first Cambodian telco merger, a move the company said they hoped would help them expand to become a market leader.

In a statement released today, the company said it aimed “to be a market leader both in subscriber base and new subscriptions through its further aggressive growth and strong market presence”.

By combining existing 2G/2.5G, 3G3.5G, 4G and WiMAX networks, the combined companies would be able to immediately expand their mobile coverage to 23 of Cambodia’s 24 provinces, it added
