Banque Pour Le Commerce Exterieur Lao (BCEL) last week released its business profiles as it prepare to list on the Lao Securities Exchange (LSX) early next year.
BCEL Director General Mr Sonexay Sitphaxay made the presentation at the LSX office in Vientiane, providing investors with information on BCEL so they can decide whether to invest in the organizations.
A number of local and foreign businesspeople attended the haft-day event to collect information on the two companies.
BCEL was established in 1975 as unit of the Bank of the Lao PDR. The bank became a fully stated-owned commercial bank in 1989 when the government opened its doors to the world community.
The bank now provides all types of banking services in cluding deposit and loan services , money transfers, local and foreign debt clearance and ATM, credit and debit cards. The bank’s vision is to become the most modern bank in Laos.
At present, the bank has branches in all provinces of the country and holds 40 percent of the banking market share, employing nearly 1,000 workers nationwide. The bank holds shares in an insurance firm, the Lao-Viet Bank and Lao French Bank. It has also joined with a Thai company to establish a securities company.
BCEL plans to sell 15 percent of its shares on the LSX early next year. It will also sell an additional 5 percent of shares to staff and 10 percent to strategic partners through private sales.
