Work starts on Yen Bai paper mill

Work on construction of a paper plant got underway on October 17 in the Minh Quan industrial zone in Tran Yen district, the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai.

Yen Bai paper mill is being constructed by Northern Paper Join Stock Company.

The plant will be built at a cost of 1 trillion VND over two phases with a final annual capacity of 50,000 tonnes of paper, using modern and clean technologies.

The first phase of the project, worth 300 billion VND with a capacity of 20,000 tonnes of paper, is expected to be completed after 18 months while the second phase will last from 2012-2015.

Once put into operation, the factory will employ over 550 labours and indirectly generate jobs for thousands of local people.
