Vietnam’s first commodity exchange dut to open soon

The Trieu Phong commodity exchange centre, the first of its kind in Vietnam, will begin operations in early 2011.

This was annouced at a ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City on October 20.

The centre, with a registered capital of US$150 billion, will manage transactions in Vietnam, provide businesses with more financial tools such as trade insurance; and ensure a balance between supply and demand.

It will provide businesses with information on the current industrial and economic situation as well as consumer demands.

The centre will focus on the three major products coffee, rubber, and steel.
