Indexes fall on blue chips performance
The VN-Index at the HCM City Stock Exchange slipped 0.17 per cent today to close at 457.59 points.
About 25.7 million shares changed hands today, which equalled VND628.9 billion (US$32.3 million) in value.
About 63 listed stocks on the southern bourse rallied while 139 others fell and 65 closed unchanged. About eight stocks matched their ceiling price, including Imexpharm Pharmaceutical (IMP), 2.5 per cent to VND59,500; OPC Pharmaceuticals (OPC), 1.8 per cent to VND38,800; and Sai Gon Food and Beverage (TRI), up 0.2 per cent to VND6,100.
Several blue chips performed well today, including Phu My Fertilisers (DPM), Masan Group (MSN) and Vinh Son-Song Hynh Hydropower Plant (VSH).
In Ha Noi, the HNX-Index fell for the second day by 0.67 per cent to close at 118.89 points with 17.3 million shares changing hands worth VND371.2 billion ($19 million).
About 86 of the 315 listed stocks on the northern market posted gains, including Luong Tai Construction Investment (LUT), up 1.5 per cent to VND23,000; Yen Bai Forest Agricultural and Foodstuff (CAP) and Maganese Mineral (MMC), up 1.4 per cent each to VND21,900 and VND22,500, respectively.
Blue chips backslid on the bourse, including Asia Commercial Bank (ACB) and Bao Viet Securities (BVS), down 0.3 per cent each; and Kim Long Securities (KLS), 0.2 per cent and PetroVietnam Construction (PVX), 0.1 per cent.
