Huge depot receives first petrol
The Vung Ang Petrol, Oil and Gas Joint Stock Co in the central province of Ha Tinh received the first 5,000cu.m of petrol at its depot on Sunday.
The company's depot is the largest petrol and oil project in the north of central Viet Nam with a total capacity of 110,000 cubic metres.
The project with total capital of VND260 billion (US$13.3 million) has docking facilities capable of receiving 25,000-tonne ships transporting petrol and oil combined with a system of storehouses.
The depot is ideally located for heavy industries operating in the Vung Ang Economic Zone, said Vo Kim Cu, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Tinh Province.
It would lead to the development of the support industry and create favourable conditions for the development of Ha Tinh Port and other large projects in the zone, Cu said.
The Vung Ang Economic Zone has deep-water wharves and is utilised by a number of foreign invested projects involved in seaports, steel manufacturing, oil refinery, trade, tourism and service. Earlier this year, the zone had attracted 70 projects with a total registered investment of $32.5 billion, said the management board.
