Exports top US$44.5 bn in eight months
According to Vietnam Customs, exports reached US$44.5 billion in the first eight months of this year, an increase of 19.7 percent year-on-year. Of which, FDI companies exported more than $17.6 billion, up 40 percent year-on-year.
Many export products, including textiles, machinery and spare parts, wood and wooden products, rubber, footwear, and steel, enjoyed high growth rate.
In related news, customs officers said that they uncovered 773 cases of smuggling and seized an amount of goods with a total value of VND40 billion in the whole country last month.
