Coffee fetches Champassak USD 14 million
Coffee, the main export for Champassak, has brought this southernmost province 14 million so far this fiscal year.
As of this month, coffee yield in the province is estimated at 11,084 tonnes and the export of this crop shares almost half of the total export USD 30 million the province has recorded so far this fiscal year. However the amount is just 82 per cent of the target set by local authorities.
Champassak estimates its export values for this fiscal year would be USD 41.03 million.
Wood processed product ranks the second largest export product, which has fetched the province USD 6.9 million and the export value of agriculture produce under contract farming agreement between the province and Thailand was recorded at USD 5.9 million this year.
The province?s export for this fiscal year is increased by 24 per cent year on year, according to the Industry and Commerce Service of Champassak.
The province said its import so far this fiscal year was valued at USD 25.3 million. Petroleum, gas, construction materials, vehicle spare part and food are the main imported products for the province.
