RoK provides ODA loans worth 51 million USD
The Republic of Korea has agreed to provide loans worth 51 million USD in the form of Official Development Assistance (ODA) for Vietnam to implement three projects in rural areas.
Agreements to the effect were signed between the Finance Ministry and the RoK Export-Import Bank in Hanoi on August 17.
The projects include a 45 million USD general hospital in the northern mountainous Yen Bai province, and the provision of teaching equipment for two vocational training schools in the central provinces of Ha Tinh and Quang Binh, worth 3 million USD each.
The RoK is one of Vietnam’s largest bilateral donors with many projects already coming into operation. These include the Thien Tan 1 water supply factory in southern Dong Nai province, National Highway No.18 and a solid waste treatment and management system in Hai Phong city as well as the production of five preventive vaccines.
The RoK has recently helped Vietnam develop infrastructure through construction of the Hanoi-Hai Phong highway and Vinh Thinh bridge.
It also financed some of the country’s human resource development and health projects.
