Quang Ninh export value rises 28%
The northern coastal province of Quang Ninh's total value of exports in the first seven months of the year amounted to US$1.2 billion, up 28.4 per cent over the same period last year, and equal to 59.7 per cent of its annual target.
Export value for central-level enterprises and foreign investment enterprises accounted for $1.03 billion and $90.4 million, respectively, or 33.3 per cent and 30.8 per cent year-on-year increase.
"Export value from local companies was $119.7 million, slightly down against the same period last year because of market difficulties," an official of the provincial Department of Industry and Trade told Viet Nam News.
In July alone, export value reached $166.2 million, up 40.7 per cent against the same period last year. The main products are seafood, vegetable oil and bricks.
"Our key export market is China," the official said.
The country's trade deficit is expected to hit nearly $7 billion in the first seven months of the year, accounting for 19.8 per cent of total export value.
Viet Nam's export value in the first seven months of the year reached $35.21 billion, an increase of 18.2 per cent compared to the same period last year, while import value stood at $42.2 billion, a year-on-year increase of 28.5 per cent.
