Metro line No.2 under construction in HCM City

Construction of metro line No.2, running from Ben Thanh to Tham Luong, in Ho Chi Minh City started on August 24.

Present at the groundbreaking ceremony were Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai, leaders of the HCM City municipal People’s Committee and representatives from international organisations.

The project covers a stretch of 20km starting at Tay Ninh bus station and ending in Thu Thiem, District 2.

Metro line No.2 running from southeast to northwest will help to solve traffic jams in Districts 3 and 10 and some parts of the city centre.

The project has a total investment of VND23,691 billion, sourced from ODA loans, the Asian Development Bank, the European Investment Bank and corresponding loans from the State Budget.

It’s scheduled to be completed by 2015 and put into operation in 2016.
