HMC: Explanation for business result in Quarter 2/2010

Hochiminh City Metal Corporation explained the fluctuation in the profit before tax between Quarter 2/2010 and Quarter 2/2009:

- Profit before tax in Quarter 2/2009: VND6,453,013,925

- Profit before tax in Quarter 2/2010: VND13,046,197,142

Profit before tax in Quarter 2/2010 increased by 102 percent over Quarter 2/2009 because of the following reasons:

In Quarter 2/2009, steel price was down and demand for steel also decreased deeply due to economic regression. Signs of the economic recovery from late 2009 helped steel price and sales volume up. Until Quarter 2/2010, steel price has increased by from 30 percent to 50 percent compared to the same period last year and local steel consumption was also high than in the same time last year. Profit before tax in Quarter 2/2010, therefore, grew 102 percent.
