Australian businesses eye Vietnamese market
Businesses from Queensland, Australia plan to access local businesses in Vietnam and Latin America in the near future.
Stephen Robertson, Queensland’s Minister for Natural Resources, Mines and Energy and Minister for Trade said that Vietnam is considered an ermerging market and the Queensland authorities want to establish an office in the country to help their companies gain the initial advantage.
Robertson said Vietnam offers many of opportunities to businesses in Queensland who want to expand their market to Southeast Asia. The country’s commitment to reforming its market since it became a member of the World Trade Organisation in January 2007 has opened up attractive prospects for foreign investors.
Mr Robertson added that the state’s first commercial representative office will be based in the Australian Commercial Office in Ho Chi Minh City to be able to cooperate closely with the state’s education and training sector and support its import-export activities in Vietnam.
The representative office will also help Queensland businesses in the negotiation process to develop suitable business strategies and make full use of the advantage of Vietnam’s economy, said Robertson.
