Vietnam’s rice exports to Hong Kong rise sharply

Vietnam’s rice exports to Hong Kong in the first five months of this year earned 11 million USD, said the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.

Vu Thinh Cuong, Vietnam’s trade counsellor in China’s Hong Kong and Macao forecasts that Vietnam’s rice exports to Hong Kong would continue to increase in the last six months of this year because many mainland Chinese and Hong Kong businesses are seeking out big and prestigious rice suppliers.

In order to promote rice exports to Hong Kong, Vietnamese businesses should take more care over the quality of their rice, as well as the packaging, and deliver on schedule, he said.

He added that Vietnam’s trade agencies in Hong Kong and Macao always provide updated information on the market and prices to domestic businesses as well as help them find new partners for their exports.
