VN to export 1.6 million tonnes of rice in Q3

Vietnam plans to export 1.6 million tonnes of rice in the third quarter of the year, 300,000 tonnes more than the same period last year, according to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA).

As planned, Vietnam will export 600,000 tonnes of rice in July, 550,000 tonnes in August and 450,000 tonnes in September.

VFA also said that the country will ship abroad 1-1.2 million tonnes of rice in the fourth quarter, raising the nation’s total rice export to 6-6.1 tonnes for the whole year.

As of June 20, Vietnam exported 3.310 million tonnes of rice worth 1.396 billion USD.

VFA has so far signed contracts to export 4.934 tonnes of rice, a year-on-year increase of 7.14 percent.
