Japan shares development experiences with Vietnam
A delegation of senior Vietnamese experts paid a working visit to Japan from June 6-14 to learn about Japan’s experiences in drawing up development strategies.
Their experiences will be taken into account when Vietnam puts together its Socio-Economic Development Strategy for the 2011-2020 period.
The delegation, led by Professor Do Hoai Nam, President of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS), heard Japanese reports on their experiences in designing policies for industry, finance, tax, social welfare, small and medium-sized businesses and how to link up industries and universities.
During the trip, the Vietnamese experts attended the Japan-Vietnam Economic Development Forum, jointly held by the Daiwa Institute and the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Several famous Japanese academics, including former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Japan (BOJ) Toshiro Muto and the former Vice Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Hideji Sugiyama, also joined the event.
At the forum, they proposed long-term strategies for Vietnam that are based on Japanese experiences in the field of industrial development, foreign investment, human resources training and funding for small- and medium-sized enterprises.
Similar forums will be held in Vietnam this summer before the country’s Socio-Economic Development Strategy for the 2011-2020 period is created.
