Garment maker sells to Italian shop
Vietnamese clothes will feature on the racks of a new shop opening in the Italian city of Cagliari early next month, thanks to a deal between the Nha Be Garment Joint Stock Corporation (NBC) and an Italian partner.
The deal will have a range of garments from NBC's "Mattana" brand on sale at the new store.
According to NBC's Deputy General Director Le Mac Thuan, the Italian retailer will sell jackets, shirts and trousers supplied by the NBC every month under a 10-year franchise.
The first US$300,000 shipment was already on its way to Italy, said Thuan.
Economic analysts in the garment and textile sector say that the franchised NBC brand proves the remarkable progress that Vietnamese garment companies have made promoting their trademarks overseas.
In addition to this franchise, a number of Vietnamese garment businesses have opened chain stores overseas, with the Viet Tien Garment Joint Stock Corporation leading the way.
Viet Tien also recently opened a shop in Laos to bring its "Viet Tien", "Viet Tien Smart Casual", "San Sciaro" and "Viet Long" trademark to the country.
In addition to Laos and Cambodia, the corporation wants to promote and market its products in other ASEAN member countries, including Myanmar, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore, while also working on markets in China and the wider region such as Australia and New Zealand.
The Deputy General Director of Viet Tien, Phan Van Kiet, said that following their successes in Asia, his corporation would promote its trademark in Europe.
However, experts have warned Vietnamese garment businesses that they may find markets in Europe harder to penetrate than they thought.
