Domestic coffee prices up

Domestic coffee prices seen a sharp increase over the past two days on June 26 as a result of increasing world coffee prices.

The price of rough coffee beans rose by VND1,000 per kilogram to VND27,800-27,900 per kilogram in the Central Highlands.

The price increased by VND2,000 per kilogram over the last week.

On the London market, the price agreed for coffee to be delivered in July surged by US$120 per ton to US$1,671 per ton on June 25, and the price for one to be delivered in September climbed by US$111 per ton to US$1,691 per ton.

Meanwhile, the export price of coffee rose to US$1,591 per ton in Ho Chi Minh City.

According to many coffee exporters, the hike in coffee price is mainly attributed to interest rate subsidies provided by the Government for purchasing coffee for storage.

However, coffee farmers don’t benefit from the price hike as they are currently out of coffee for sale.
