Trade agency to set up promotion centre
The HCM City Investment and Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) plans to set up the Viet Nam Exporters Association to boost the competitiveness of domestic exporters through promotional activities and by helping them link up with the global supply system.
All manufacturing companies, especially small and medium-sized ones, and those with export potential will be eligible for membership of the association which is expected to come into being on June 10.
Speaking at a press conference held in HCM City on Monday, Tu Minh Thien, Director of ITPC, said the association would provide exporters with a forum to exchange information and technology.
Initially, the association will focus on pushing exports to Viet Nam's major markets like the US, the European Union, Japan, China, Laos, and Cambodia. It will tie up with the Bank for Investment&Development of Viet Nam and Credit Guarantee Fund for SMEs to provide financial support to exporters.
Around 100 firms have registered for membership and the number is expected to rise to 300 by the end of this year, he said.
