Ministry plans export centre in Russia
A Viet Nam export goods centre will open in Russia next year, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said on Thursday.
The centre will work as an industry and logistics zone to receive products from Viet Nam to be processed and distributed to outlets in Russia, said Pham Quang Niem, head of the Russian-SNG Bureau of the European Marketing Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Niem said Russia was a huge export market and the centre would help penetration.
The centre would be located about 80km from Moscow and would receive preferential treatment, including land rent.
Two way trade between both countries reached US$1.83 billion last year, an increase of 11.5 per cent over the previous year.
Russia is ranked 24th among Viet Nam's export markets.
The two countries have targeted two-way trade valued at $3 billion next year and $10 billion in 2020.
Exports to Russia include agro-forestry products, seafood, textiles, footwear and handicrafts. Imports include oil and petrol, steel, fertiliser, chemicals, machines and accessories.
