Vietnamese enterprises promote business in Israel

Israel is a potential destination for Vietnamese enterprises looking for business partners, according to Dinh Xuan Luu, Vietnamese Ambassador to Israel.

Viet Nam's key exports of rice, coffee, tea, pepper, furniture, clothes and footwear could conquer the Israeli market, he said.

To enable Vietnamese goods to enter the market quickly and effectively, enterprises should focus on improving the quality of their products.

"Although Israel is not a choosy market, it does not mean that quality is not important. Israeli people have high average incomes and they demand good quality," said Luu.

In ddition, Viet Nam's enterprise should to take part in trade exhbitions and fairs in Israel to prmote their products to consumers. It's also necessary to co-operate with the relevant agencies, promoting trade and organising seminars to popularise Vietnamese goods.

This year, the Vietnamese embassy in Israel is organising various activities to support domestic businesses, particularly in trade promotion activities to help them find partners.

"We will act as a bridge between the two arkets. We are ready to suport domestic enterprises who wish to enter the Israeli market," confirmed Luu.

However, he said that most domestic firms had not received full and accurate information about the potential market. Most information has been broadcast through television and as a result, businesses will face both market and security risks.

"Israel currently does business with many countries and territories across the world. Despite the economic downturn, Israel's export turnover still achieved strong growth, reaching US$50 billion in 2009, which shows that economic development is stable in Israel," said Luu.

He added that it was necessary for Vietnamese firms to enhance trade co-operation with the market as a lever to expand business activities to other markets in the region.

Bilateral trade between Viet Nam and Israel has jmped in recent years, reaching more than $150 million in 2009, according to the Viet Nam Chamber for Commerce and Industry.

Major exports to Israel included footwear, clothing and agricultural products while Viet Nam imports hi-tech equipment, fertiliser and chemicals from Israel.
