VACC helps construction contractors gain ground

The Vietnam Association of Construction Contractors (VACC) has set a target of buttressing the operations of its members from now until 2015.

Addressing the VACC congress held in Hanoi on March 12, VACC Chairman Vu Khoa said the organization will expedite the establishment of centres for protecting their members’ rights as well as improving their capacity.

These centres will assist contractors in legal issues, help them settle disputes in construction and trade via arbitration, and reduce their risks in signing and fulfilling contracts.

Domestic construction contractors have suffered from the global economic downturn. Changing prices of construction materials have brought quite a few contractors to the verge of bankruptcy, narrowing their production scale and laying off workers.

In the new term (2010-2015), VACC will focus on opening chapters in provinces and cities nationwide with a view to rallying construction contractors for the sustainable development of the sector.
