Guangxi believes in economic cooperation with Vietnam
Guangxi provincial authorities are quite confident about the prospect of economic cooperation with Vietnam, said Guangxi Administration Vice Chairman Li Jinzao at a recent press conference in Beijing.
He said the ASEAN-China Free Trade Area, which was put into operation on January 1, 2010, will provide China and Southeast Asian countries with new development opportunities.
As the gateway connecting China to Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries, he added, Guangxi has established cooperative programmes for mutual benefit.
Mr. Li said Guangxi and Vietnam are collaborating to build a China-Vietnam economic cooperation complex at the border.
In order to implement the project, China is now developing infrastructure in Ping Xiang, the Vice Chairman said, adding that he is delighted at Vietnam’s response to the project.
The Government of China has decided to help Guangxi promote its socio-economic development and cooperation with other countries in the region.
It attaches special importance to the development of a "two corridors, one economic belt" framework which includes the Kunming (China) – Lao Cai – Hanoi – Hai Phong – Quang Ninh corridor and the Nanning (China) – Lang Son – Hanoi – Hai Phong – Quang Ninh corridor, and an economic belt around the Tonkin Gulf.
