National coal group chairman resignation accepted
The government has accepted the resignation letter of the chairman of state-owned Vietnam National Coal-Mineral Industries Group, appointing a deputy industrial minister to the post, an official said Friday.
Le Duong Quang, Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, will become head of the group, also known as Vinacomin, while also retaining his position in the cabinet, government office head Nguyen Xuan Phuc told a press conference in Hanoi Friday.
The previous chairman, Doan Van Kien, was allowed to resign after he was accused of mismanagement.
Kien submitted his letter of resignation to Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung at the end of September. He was censured by Communist Party investigators on September 4 for mismanagement which they said caused the loss of millions tons of coal.
Vinacomin is developing the world’s third-largest bauxite reserves in Vietnam.
