Japan lifts import ban on Vietnamese green dragon fruit

Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has announced that it removed the ban on Vietnamese exports of green dragon fruit to the country from October 20.

The decision gives Vietnamese green dragon fruit the opportunities to penetrate the Japanese market after being barred for decades.

Vietnamese green dragon fruit must now follow all of Japan’s Food and Hygiene Regulations.

Specialists from Japan’s agricultural agency control experts will inspect the Yasaka Fruit Processing Company in Vietnam’s Southern Binh Duong province for one year from November 2009.

Yasaka is the only company in Vietnam to receive a license to process green dragon fruit from the Japanese government.
