Guangdong businesses seek opportunity in Vietnam

The Governor of China’s Guangdong province, Huang Huahua, will lead a delegation of more than 200 businesspeople on a visit to Vietnam from October 18-20, according to the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).

The businesses mainly operate in the fields of tourism, trade, mechanical engineering, handicrafts, foods, health, textiles, construction and building materials and transport.

During the visit, a forum on economic and trade cooperation between Vietnam and Guangdong will be held in Hanoi on October 20.

Guangdong province is one of the five most developed areas of China and is also a leading trade partner with Vietnam. In recent years, the friendship and multi-faceted cooperation shown between Vietnam and Guangdong have continuously increased, with two-way trade reaching nearly US$3.4 billion in 2008 and is expected to hit US$5 billion by 2010.

By the end of 2008, Guangdong businesses had 40 projects in Vietnam with a total investment capital of US$310 million.
