Danish firms seek local opportunities
A Danish business delegation with representatives of bout 70 companies will participate in a wide range of events in Viet Nam from November 2-6, the Danish Embassy in Viet Nam said.
The business activities are designed to build sustainable partnerships between Danish and Vietnamese companies. They will focus on clean technology solutions, the maritime industry, information communications technology, airport products and services, meat technology and food promotion.
The events will be held in both Ha Noi and HCM City and about 700 Vietnamese businesses are expected to participate.
Individual seminars will be held on architectural services; industrial design and branding; optical fibres and cables for telecommunications; and programmes for higher education, airports and tourism.
Subsequently, there will be individual B2B match-making events, round-table discussions, site visits, and networking activities to facilitate further co-operation between Danish and Vietnamese companies.
Despite the global economic downturn, Vietnamese exports to Denmark had increased 7 per cent year-on-year to US$538 million in the first five months of this year. Among the key Vietnamese exports were footwear, clothing and home appliances.
As of September, Denmark had invested over $498 million in 75 projects in Viet Nam and ranked 25th among 88 countries and territories investing here, according to the Foreign Investment Agency.
The two countries have targeted raising bilateral trade and investment to $1 billion each in the next few years.
A Viet Nam-Denmark Friendship Association was founded to boost two-way relations in such fields as commerce, trade, investment, technology and tourism.
Over the next three years, the association plans to support both nations’ enterprises with updated information.
